One of the world’s leading scientists and winner of the 2003 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discoveries in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, MRI.
Professor of the Department of Physics at the University of Nottingham, Sir Peter’s pioneering work was the first to produce a useful image using MRI and is credited with its development along with various advancements which underpin the most sophisticated MRI applications in clinical use today. His discovery is seen as one of the most important breakthroughs in medical science.
Sir Peter received his knighthood in 1993 and was inducted into the inventors hall of fame in 2007.

Recognised for his expertise in fetal imaging, which improves ultrasound’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and monitor the health of an unborn child. He is currently the Sonography and Fetal Medicine Lead at The Portland Hospital for Women and Children in London, known the world over for its clinical excellence and leading Maternal and Fetal Wellbeing centre.
Graduating as a Master of Science Dean has dedicated much of his accomplished 20-year career to advancing women’s health through diagnostic ultrasound in both NHS and private sectors. From introducing 3D to The Portland in 2001 he has continued to develop its effectiveness and precision within the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
